Waiver Policy
The Journal of Sports Medicine and Therapy (JSMT) is committed to making high-quality research accessible to a global audience. To support authors facing financial constraints, we offer a waiver policy for Article Processing Charges (APCs), ensuring that lack of funds does not hinder the dissemination of valuable research.
Eligibility for Waivers
The JSMT waiver program is designed to assist authors who lack the necessary funding to cover publication costs. Waivers may be granted to:
- Researchers from low-income and developing countries as classified by international economic organizations.
- Early-career scientists and independent researchers without institutional funding.
- Authors who provide evidence of financial hardship.
All waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, ensuring fair access to the publication process.
Waiver Review and Approval Process
The editorial board of JSMT evaluates all waiver requests. Decisions are based on financial need, the applicant’s institutional affiliation, and the availability of funds. Authors will be informed of the decision promptly after their request is reviewed.
Partial Waivers
In some cases, authors may be granted a partial waiver instead of a full exemption. Partial waivers reduce the APC but do not eliminate it entirely. The extent of the reduction depends on the applicant’s circumstances and the availability of funds allocated for waivers.
How to Apply for a Waiver
Authors seeking a waiver should submit a formal request to the JSMT editorial office at [email protected]. The request must include:
- Full name and institutional affiliation (if applicable).
- The title of the manuscript and submission ID (if available).
- A detailed explanation of financial constraints, along with supporting documents such as proof of low-income status or lack of funding.
Authors are encouraged to apply for waivers at the time of manuscript submission to facilitate a smooth review and publication process.
The JSMT remains dedicated to removing financial barriers and ensuring that valuable research in sports medicine and therapy reaches a broad audience. For further details, please contact our editorial office.
