To maintain the quality of the journal and cover the costs associated with publication, the journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted articles.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

The APC is necessary to cover the costs of editorial services, peer review, article production, and hosting. This fee is charged once the article is accepted for publication and must be paid before the article can be published.

The current APC for the Journal of Sports Medicine and Therapy is:

• $2,589 USD for all types of articles.

This charge is mandatory for all articles accepted for publication, and payment must be made in a timely manner to ensure the article's prompt publication.

Waiver Policy

The Journal of Sports Medicine and Therapy acknowledges that authors from low- and middle-income countries or those facing financial difficulties may be unable to afford the APC. The journal offers a waiver for APCs under specific circumstances.

To request a waiver, authors should provide appropriate documentation to demonstrate financial constraints or their affiliation with an institution in a low-income country. Each waiver request will be reviewed individually.

Additional Charges

In addition to the standard APC, authors may incur additional charges for the following optional services:

• Color Figures: There is no additional charge for publishing color figures.
• Supplementary Materials: There is no extra charge for publishing supplementary materials such as videos, datasets, or additional files.
• Urgent Processing: Expedited processing is available at no additional cost.

These additional services are optional and will only apply if the author requests them during the submission process. Fees must be paid before the article is published.

Payment Methods

The Journal of Sports Medicine and Therapy accepts payments for the APC and any additional charges via the following methods:

• Bank Transfers: Authors may opt for international bank transfers.

Refund Policy

Once the APC is paid and the article has been accepted for publication, no refunds will be issued. However, if an article is withdrawn before it enters the peer-review process, a partial refund may be offered, depending on the stage of submission.
